Patients & Public in MicroTex
MicroTex is committed to involving patients and the public throughout the research process.
Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) helps ensure that research remains relevant, inclusive, and connected to the needs and experiences of the communities it aims to benefit.
We recognise the importance of collaborative and transparent approaches to healthcare innovation, particularly in areas related to therapeutic development, emerging technologies, and translational research.
Why PPIE Matters
Healthcare research has the greatest impact when it reflects the experiences, priorities, and perspectives of the people it is designed to benefit. PPIE helps support more inclusive, transparent, and socially responsible research by encouraging dialogue between researchers, patients, carers, and the wider public.

The MicroTex PPIE Approach
MicroTex adopts a three-tier approach. This approach supports different ways for patients, carers, and members of the public to contribute to and interact with the research programme
Involvement
Involvement focuses on active collaboration between researchers and public contributors.
Patients and members of the public work alongside the research team to help shape priorities, contribute perspectives, and support the development of research activities and communication approaches.
Engagement
Engagement focuses on creating open dialogue between MicroTex and wider communities.
This includes activities that support public understanding of research, encourage discussion around emerging technologies, and promote transparency in MicroTex research
Consultation
Consultation provides opportunities to gather perspectives and feedback from broader and more diverse groups.
This helps ensure that different societal views, experiences, and concerns can help inform discussions, priorities, and decision-making across the programme
