A collaboration involving The University of Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt University, and The University of Bath, MicroTex is a pioneering initiative dedicated to the pursuit of advanced technologies to transform the development of new therapies for infections and inflammation – conditions that rank among the leading causes of illness and death worldwide.

By integrating expertise from physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, and clinical medicine, MicroTex is at the forefront of developing powerful new tools for experimental medicine and microdosing techniques. These methods involve delivery of tiny amounts of drugs to precise locations within the body and rapid assessment of their effectiveness. This promises to streamline clinical trials, reduce reliance on animal testing, and expedite the availability of new therapies for patients.
