We are delighted to announce that Professor Guangzhao Mao has joined the MicroTex team, bringing her outstanding expertise in nanomaterials and biomedical engineering to our growing community of researchers.
Professor Mao, who recently joined the University of Edinburgh as Head of the School of Engineering, is internationally recognised for her pioneering work in applying nanotechnology to solve challenges in medicine and biology. Her research focuses on designing and characterising nanomaterials that can interact precisely with biological systems — a perfect complement to the MicroTex Hub’s mission to develop advanced technologies for intra-target microdosing.
Her leadership in areas such as nanoparticle-based drug delivery, tissue engineering, and biomedical imaging will significantly strengthen our interdisciplinary approach. By integrating her knowledge of how materials behave at the nanoscale with our efforts to engineer microtechnology-enabled devices, we aim to accelerate the development of targeted therapies that can be delivered directly to tissues.
We are excited to collaborate with Professor Mao as we work together to tackle the global challenge of infections and antimicrobial resistance. Her expertise will not only enhance our research but also help train the next generation of scientists and engineers working at the intersection of materials science and healthcare.
We look forward to the innovations that will emerge from this partnership and to the impact they will have on patients’ lives.
